We've been without internet since I last posted and after blogging almost daily it has been quite different. Almost had withdrawals - lol!

So where do I begin? Let me see .... we've been in P.E.I. But not before we rested on the northern coast of NB in a small place called Cap Pele. Here we got our first glimpse of the Atlantic Ocean. We just kicked back for a couple of days. I got caught up on some 'house' cleaning and laundry, and we walked the beach and got to dip our toes in the fresh Atlantic waters!

Then it was off to P.E.I. Up and over the Confederation Bridge. 12.9 kilometers (8 miles). That is one long bridge. It spans the Abegweit Passage of the Northumberland Strait, and links PEI with mainland New Brunswick. It took 5 years to build this bridge and cost a whopping 1.3 billion!

Charlottetown, known as Canada's birthplace, is the largest as well as the capital city of PEI. We enjoyed a walkabout in the downtown 'old town' area. There are so many interesting old buildings.

The Downtown Farmer's Market takes place every Saturday morning. It is huge! And crowded! As well as vendors and food booths all over outside, there is also an inside 'mall'. Here if you can think it, you can probably find it! Everything under one roof - from jewelry and clothing to cheese, meat and fish!

In this downtown area is St. Dunstan's Basilica, a Roman Catholic Cathedral re-built in 1916 after fire destroyed the first one.

We drove the Coastal Region known as Green Gables Shore.
Cavendish is where you will find the heritage home that inspired the setting for L.M. Montgomery to create her loving tale of Anne of Green Gables.
We took a walk in the 'haunted woods' in front of the house.
We visited the small village of Avonlea. The buildings here are vintage period buildings that were moved and repurposed and are now used as restaurants and shopping. The church and school house  that were a part of L.M. Montgomery's life are still standing. Cute little village!
