Not enough wind for sailing today, but that doesn’t stop Michel from spending time on the ocean.

I always tell Michel to be careful what he wishes for……

He’s been talking about buying a hobie cat for two years now, ever since he we went for a ride here in San Felipe at the Regatta……

Well this year, it happened.
He bought this hobie cat off of a lady from Williams Lake, BC, who lives here for most the year in a very large casa….She had bought the hobie cat to settle an argument (so the story goes) and used it only once - for their ladies ‘Yacht Club Meeting‘…she put it into her pool because the pool water to too cold to swim in. So the ladies laid around on the tarp and pontoons sippin margarittas…. Another tough day in San Felipe….I’ve been invited to join the Ladies Yacht Club. Sounds like fun.

The hobie cat is a little smaller than Michel had hoped for, 14 feet; he wanted a 16 foot, but he none the less is enjoying it. And we’ve decided to stay in San Felipe for March, so he’ll have a whole month to play. We keep it anchored right on the beach in front of our RV park.

We went pot shopping today.
And what a deal!
What do you think of my chimineya???
Don’t know if we’ll every put a fire in it, but it sure will look good on our deck.

Here we are all set up in San Felipe, overlooking the ocean, just a walk to the Melecon. Our Dutch Star is on the left - friends, Rich and Tina’s Southwind is on the right. It doesn't get much better than this......

On this day we crossed the Mexican border into San Felipe. Travelling again this year with Rich and Tina, this is picture of their ‘back end’ as we follow them on the Mexican road. It’s hard to imagine, but years ago there used to be water on both sides of the road….. The ocean has receded so much you can barely see it from the road.

In this picture - is the Federali Stop. It was pretty intimidating the first time, but now we just smile and open the door…. This year they really went through everything. There has been a lot of bad news about drug wars in Mexico, and friends from San Marcos, CA were quite concerned that we were going. In fact the American government were warning the Americans that they shouldn’t be going across to Mexico. The big trouble is in the border towns - Tiajana - Tecate - etc…. We never had any problem - we crossed the border early (7:00 a.m.) and were through Mexicali before the morning rush.

By 10:00 a.m. we were crossing the arches in San Felipe.

We’ve spent two weeks in the Desert Hot Springs area - one week at Desert Pools Spa and the second week at Catalina Spa. Our friends Rich and Tina have been in the area as well, but we weren’t able to reserve for the same park at the same time… But we did spend time with them. This is picture of Michel and Rich in the pool at the new RV park Rich and Tina were staying at. The wind was pretty cool that day, so Tina and I didn’t go into the water…. We just relaxed in the sun.
Here is a picture of the four of us at our ‘favorite’ Mexican Restaurant in Palm Springs - Las Consuelas -
And here are a few pictures of Palm Springs.
