The race happened all around us and the cars were just flying by and so was the dust. We were told that they average around 55 mph (95 kmh) which made picture taking challenging to say the least. We hung out for a couple of hours, by that time the cars were all gone past where we were standing. Time to go home and shower!!

Anyway - here are a few pictures of the Malecon (downtown street) on the ‘parade’ day. This is the day that the race cars parade by, so everyone can get a look-see. As well as the cars in the middle of the street, there were booths lined up both sides of the Malecon selling Baja 250 paraphernalia. There was music playing and beer and margaritas flowing. We went in the morning, before the “BIG” crowds got there. The music and party lasted until the early morning hours.

But - that was just a little bump in the day. Michel and Rich went down to the Marine store, bought the glue and fiberglass, and fixed up the boat as good as new. He was back sailing before noon.

He’s been talking about buying a hobie cat for two years now, ever since he we went for a ride here in San Felipe at the Regatta……
Well this year, it happened.
He bought this hobie cat off of a lady from Williams Lake, BC, who lives here for most the year in a very large casa….She had bought the hobie cat to settle an argument (so the story goes) and used it only once - for their ladies ‘Yacht Club Meeting‘…she put it into her pool because the pool water to too cold to swim in. So the ladies laid around on the tarp and pontoons sippin margarittas…. Another tough day in San Felipe….I’ve been invited to join the Ladies Yacht Club. Sounds like fun.
The hobie cat is a little smaller than Michel had hoped for, 14 feet; he wanted a 16 foot, but he none the less is enjoying it. And we’ve decided to stay in San Felipe for March, so he’ll have a whole month to play. We keep it anchored right on the beach in front of our RV park.
