Anyway - here are a few pictures of the Malecon (downtown street) on the ‘parade’ day. This is the day that the race cars parade by, so everyone can get a look-see. As well as the cars in the middle of the street, there were booths lined up both sides of the Malecon selling Baja 250 paraphernalia. There was music playing and beer and margaritas flowing. We went in the morning, before the “BIG” crowds got there. The music and party lasted until the early morning hours.
March 12, 2009
Today was the day before of the Baja 250 . It was cancelled two years ago, and ran from Ensenada instead, because of some disagreement between the Ejedo Indians and the City of San Felipe. It’s quite the event and brings in many pesos for the business people of San Felipe, so it was good to see that they have brought it back. There weren’t as many entries as in the past, but I’m sure economy has something to do with that - as well as all the ‘bad’ press about Mexico and the drug wars.
