We spent the week of February 14th to the 21st at Emerald Cove RV Park in Parker, AZ. We met up with friends Merle and Ray (from Alberta) and enjoyed lunch with them at this floating resraurant (on the Colorado River) called the Roadrunner Cafe.

(In this picture is myself and Merle in front of the restaurant).

On our way back to our RV park from theirs, we came across these donkeys. They just roam free in the area, and all over the road. You have to really be alert coming around the corners......

On Sunday we watched the 'outdoor' hockey game between Calgary and Atlanta with Ray and Merle at their place. It's was good to hook up with them again, we always have a good visit.

Happy Valentines Day!

Here are my Valentine roses. They sure do brighten up the motorhome! This morning we left Indio, and arrived at Emerald Cove RV Resort around 11:30. This resort is located on the Colorado River, across from Parker, and just down the road from the Parker Dam. We will be here for a week, so if we do anything interesting I'll post again.

Today we said good bye to good friends Mike and Chris. After spending a month with them, it was a tearful parting. But we're in the Desert Hot Springs/Palm Springs area for another three weeks, so we expect to see them again before we leave the area.
Picture #1 is Mike and Al doing up a bbq..... It was Al and Donna's property we were staying at with Mike and Chris. Here are a few pictures of their property, because a picture is worth a 1000 words. They have a 5 star property and they've put a lot of time and effort into it as you will see by the following few pictures.

We did quite a bit of touring around, mostly on the weekends when Chris didn't have to go to work.
We visited the Julian Pie Co. They make the absolute best pie I've ever eaten.

And we visited Balboa Park in San Diego.

We had lunch at the Hob Nob Restaurant in San Diego. This is just one of the many restaurants featured on the Food Network's show Drive Ins, Diners and Dives.

We went to Coronado and walked the beach

And we spent last week end in Quartzsite, Az. We ate at the famous "Silly Als" Pizza bar. Here we are eating again!!

And of course, after a day of walking, and walking, the evening was spent just chillin'....

We had Christmas Dinner at Aqua Caliente Casino in Palm Springs.

A good feast was had by all. It was a very nice evening with good friends, new and old, good conversation and ..... complimentary champagne !

We said good bye to San Felipe on Sunday. We weren't in a hurry, thinking maybe the US border wouldn't be so busy in the later afternoon, so we left after lunch. WRONG! I don't think there is a good time to cross the border, it's busy all the time!
Anyway, we'll miss the beautiful sunrises. Pictures just don't capture the beauty of the colors.

And we'll also miss the sand and the ocean. Here is a picture of our spot on the beach.
We got quite used to reading in these chairs. They are really quite comfortable.

Tuesday, December 14th we checked into Desert Pools, in Desert Hot Springs for a week. Then we're off to Catalina Spa for a week. From there - who knows? But we have decided that we're going to stay in this area for a couple of months.

A month has come and gone and we've done just as we said we would - relax and enjoy the sand and sun. We haven't done much of anything but we've done a lot of reading ... and a lot of walking while our car was being repaired. We got it back this weekend and are quite pleased with the outcome.

Thanksgiving Day November 25th - We did dinner at the church for American Thanksgiving. Everyone brought something to contribute to the wonderful meal and the church supplied the turkey. It was a small gathering but we all ate lots ..It was yummy .....

November 16th - these young boys put together their kayak and loaded all their gear to began their adventure. Their plan is to kayak to La Paz which is about 600 miles south of San Felipe along the rugged coast . They figured it would take them about a month..... good luck!!! They have a lot more adventure in them than we do. Anyway here are a couple of picture of the boys, Mark and Josh (from Montana) assembling the kayak

The kayak is bigger than Michel's hoby cat - and a lot heavier.
We wish them a good and safe voyage....
