The week has gone by in a flash. Tomorrow we leave for home and we won't have internet until we get there. Said good bye to Rich and Tina on Saturday, but we'll be meeting up with them again on Monday and travelling together for a couple of days.

We had a very busy fun-filled week and even managed to get in some pool time in between our visits and happy hours. We the whole group headed into Palm Springs on Thursday for dinner at Las Consuelas to celebrate Michel's birthday and Rich and Tina's Anniversary. Dinner was excellent as per usual.

After dinner we took in the Street Market, that happens every Thursday night on the main street in Palm Springs. There were vendors lined up and down the street for probably 6 blocks. So we managed to 'walk off' a couple of those calories that we chomped down at Las Consuelas.

Our second visit to Dillon Roadhouse in a week.  The first time there was only Rich and Tina and us for $5.00 cheeseburgers. But this Friday night was kareoke night, and  the whole group went down to sing and cash in on 2 for 1 burgers. Sometimes I think all we do is eat. Steve and Doreen are the singers in our group, but there were quite a few other people who got up to entertain us as well. Most with good voices, but a few we wish we didn't have to listen to (lol)..
Tina, Rich, Jim and Sharon, Michel

Jim and Sharon are friends of Rich and Tina's who came down to join us for a brew. We all had a great time. Dillon Roadhouse is a very popular bar and it is patronized not only by the locals, but also by the snowbirds who 'flock' down to spent their winters in the area.

Sorry my posts are so few and far between, but here is an update so y'all will know where we've been and when we'll arrive at home. We left Fiesta RV Resort in Bullhead City on March 10th. We headed south to Quartzite then down to Yuma. There we got dental work done in Algodones, MX (ouch) and got in another visit with cousin Lou and his wife Grace.

(L to R:  Tina, Rod, Rich, Deb, Wayne, Jean and Michel.)
We met up with Rich and Tina again in Desert Hot Springs where we spent the past two weeks parked side by side at Catalina Spa for one week and then Desert Pools for another.
In this time we took pickleball lessons (again) and went to College of the Desert Open Market, ate out a few times, and had a few happy hours. We met up with friends Deb and Wayne (Utah) and Jean and Rod (BC) for happy hour.
(L to R: Michel, Rich, Ann)

And happy hour with a couple of times with Ron and Ann (BC) and friends of theirs, Sharon and Andy, also from BC.

Ron and Ann left for home on Wednesday. We have one more week before we head home.

We arrived at Sky Valley RV Resort in Desert Hot Springs today so we have wifi this week - YEAH!!  We haven't had internet since we left Fiesta, unless we went out to find it, so this is really nice. Friends Doreen and Steve bought a park model here last year so we anxiously await their arrival today with their son Wayne and his wife Ellie. Doug and Ginette bought here too, and Rich and Tina booked into this park as well, so we anticipate a fun-filled week.

March 2, 2014

Well, we did it again. Another concert last night. This time it was in our own park - Fiesta RV Resort where ELVIS (Don Rose) performed. The room was almost oversold, as the couple who organized this event (Larry and Shirley) were scrambling to find enough chairs to accommodate the 270 people who came to listen and enjoy his music.

And Don Rose really outdid himself. He performed for almost two and a half hours, singing and wiggling all over the stage - just like Elvis used to do.

He even meandered through the crowd giving scarves and kisses! There were a few ladies who even went up to the stage and he leaned down to deliver.

It was a great show and I'm sure I speak for everyone in attendance when I say he did a wonderful job.

Don has been impersonating Elvis for 25 or so years and has performed all over the country including Vegas, Nashville and of course Laughlin - and now Bullhead City! He did say he enjoyed himself and would come back if asked - - okay we're asking!

That's it for now - thanks for reading

Crystal Gayle performed at the Riverside Casino in Laughlin last night to a sold out crowd.  998 people crowded into the showroom to hear her sing her famous songs, as well as those of other performers.
She's still a beautiful lady with a great voice and her hair is so long now it touches the floor. It was below her bottom last time I saw her in the mid 90's.

Loretta Lynn is her sister and Crystal used to sing back up for her, something I never knew before.
Now h
er other sister Peggy Sue travels with Crystal and sings back up for her.
Here is Crystal and Peggy singing together.
We really enjoyed the show, but my pictures didn't turn out so thanks to the internet, I have a couple of photos to post.

Friends Ann and Bob Bjornson from West Kelowna, B.C. were here visiting for a couple of days. They've been travelling around Arizona for the past few weeks visiting friends and family, and are now slowly heading back home.

We enjoyed their company, hung out in Laughlin, had a few drinks and alot of laughs.

When we were here two years ago this Pedestrian Bridge wasn't here, but this year it is complete. This bridge spans the highway (SR 163) and is one of the main entryways to the Laughlin Greenway Trail which leads to the Davis Dam.

There a number of trails leading to the dam, all nicely paved. The one we walked was the Riverwalk Trail, which is 2 miles long. All along the trail are day use areas.

I have to admit that I didn't walk all the way to the dam, but Michel did, so he snapped a few photos. I sat on a bench in a shady area to wait for him to return, then we walked back to the Ped Bridge.

This is a photo of the USS Riverside. This tour boat takes groups up and down the Colorado River on narrated excursions detailing the many features of the area.  In the background is one of the camp grounds located at the Davis Dam Park.

Here are a couple of familiar faces.
My cousin Darlene and her husband Ed Cyre flew into Las Vegas last week to spent a few days with us here in Bullhead City. It was great to have them here, and tho they didn't stay with us in the motorhome they were close and we managed to have a few laughs and a great visit. On Monday we stopped for lunch (and a beer of course) at a Mexican Restaurant before we carried on to Oatman. CHEERS!
Oatman is an old ghost town on Route 66. From the 1900's to to the late 1940's Oatman was the largest producer of gold in Arizona. The population back then was 4000, and now this town supports a little over 100 people.

Though Oatman is only a shadow of it’s former self, it is worth a visit to this lively ghost town that provides a number of historic buildings, burros walking the streets, and costumed gunfighters performing a bank robbery, shoot-out on the street.

The Drulin Hotel was built in 1902 and is still in operation today
This old hotel is now called the Oatman Hotel and people have come from all over to have a pint and staple/tape their ''autographed' dollar bills on the ceiling and walls. The bartender there told us that they estimated there was over $100,000.

Pretty expensive wallpaper!!

Tuesday we spent the afternoon in Laughlin, where Darlene and I enjoyed a session of Bingo - no wins I'm sorry to report, but we did have fun. The guys took in the Antique Car Show, which is on-going at the Riverside Casino  -

Then we went to the show - popcorn for dinner - yummmmm.

Wednesday we were off to Lake Havasu City, home to
the
London Bridge which crosses a 930 ft (280 m) long man-made canal that leads from Lake Havasu (on the Colorado River) to Thompson Bay. The US paid $2.5 million to the City of London when the bridge was replaced in 1968. The bridge was disassembled, and the marked stones were shipped to Lake Havasu City and reassembled for another US $7 million. It opened on October 5, 1971
On our way home from Lake Havasu, we stopped to have dinner at Pirates Cove Bar and Marina.

Thursday we did a little shopping then took in the 2 for 1 Buffet at the Avi Casino. There is certainly no shortage of places to eat around here. I only cooked a few meals.
The week went by so fast and it was sad to see them leave, especially because they were heading back to the cold and snow, and although the week was colder here than normal even the coldest day here is better than the weather at home!

That's it for now - thanks for reading!!
