After two nights on the road we arrived in New Orleans Monday afternoon.  We had decided to check out three RV parks on Chef Menteur Hwy, just off of Hwy 10. They were all just about side by side, but we decided on the second one, in the middle, Three Oaks & a Pine RV Park. Nothing special, but a large area easy to move around in with ample space for each RV. We settled in and just relaxed for the rest of the day and evening.

This morning we woke to black skies. As I sat here at the computer I watched the black clouds moving in.  Next thing I knew the wind was blowing, debris was flying all around us, and our motorhome was just shaking!  We had our TV on and as this was happening Pinpont Weather - Storm Reports cut Kelly Rippa off and announced that a tornado was heading our way... I've got news for you, it's here!! We've never experienced a tornado before, another first for us.
This is us after the storm
Our angels were working overtime again as all around us windows were shattering, RVs were flipping and trees were swirling.  It happened so fast and we came away unscathed. Our RV park didn't get hit as hard as the one next to us (the one we were heading for when we decided on this one).

There were 2 rigs in our park upside down, another 3 rigs that were hit really hard, windows out and broken, and 6 cars with windows blown out.

This is an RV just 5 stalls down from us.
The one to the right was also upside down.

Here are two rigs across from us  -
the 5th wheel front end jacks sunk right into the ground.
The little Air Stream was turned right around.

The RV park next door got it much worse ........just about every rig in that park was damaged, tipped over or just plain demolished!

There were five tornadoes that touched down in Southern Louisianna, but the worst one was in East New Orleans. After it destroyed the park next to us it picked up speed and destroyed entire neighbourhoods along the Chef Hwy.

There were roofs ripped off houses, and houses completely destroyed. Telephone lines and trees were blown down. Power in some areas will be out until Saturday they are predicting.
