Not enough wind for sailing today, but that doesn’t stop Michel from spending time on the ocean.

He’s been talking about buying a hobie cat for two years now, ever since he we went for a ride here in San Felipe at the Regatta……
Well this year, it happened.
He bought this hobie cat off of a lady from Williams Lake, BC, who lives here for most the year in a very large casa….She had bought the hobie cat to settle an argument (so the story goes) and used it only once - for their ladies ‘Yacht Club Meeting‘…she put it into her pool because the pool water to too cold to swim in. So the ladies laid around on the tarp and pontoons sippin margarittas…. Another tough day in San Felipe….I’ve been invited to join the Ladies Yacht Club. Sounds like fun.
The hobie cat is a little smaller than Michel had hoped for, 14 feet; he wanted a 16 foot, but he none the less is enjoying it. And we’ve decided to stay in San Felipe for March, so he’ll have a whole month to play. We keep it anchored right on the beach in front of our RV park.

In this picture - is the Federali Stop. It was pretty intimidating the first time, but now we just smile and open the door…. This year they really went through everything. There has been a lot of bad news about drug wars in Mexico, and friends from San Marcos, CA were quite concerned that we were going. In fact the American government were warning the Americans that they shouldn’t be going across to Mexico. The big trouble is in the border towns - Tiajana - Tecate - etc…. We never had any problem - we crossed the border early (7:00 a.m.) and were through Mexicali before the morning rush.
By 10:00 a.m. we were crossing the arches in San Felipe.
