Today we visited the Basillica of Ste. Anne-de-Beaupre. It has been credited by the Catholic Church with many miracles of curing the sick and healing the disabled.
People from all over the world come to visit the Bisillica. This
shrine attracts more than a million pilgrims and visitors annually.

The shrine of Ste. Anne-de-Beaupre |

Pillars in the front entrance are covered in crutches from people who are said to have been miraculously cured and saved. |
While here we also visited Cyclorama of Jerusalem.
It is a
cylindrical painting 46 ft. in height and 361 ft. in circumference. This panorama
was painted in Munich and exhibited since 1895, depicts events in Jerusalem, on
Calvary and in the surrounding countryside at the time of Jesus’ crucifixion. Unfortunately, we were disappointed. I guess
in its day it was remarkable, and the painting is awesome, but the attraction outdated by about 50 years!! and it is just a money grab. $11 each to get in plus $2 each for binoculars to see it .... the whole presentation lasted 10 minutes! Sorry, but it had
to be said.
The Museum of St Anne was a ‘must see’ and it was free!!
The Canyon of Ste. Anne was awesome! A meandering path through the woods leads to trails, suspension bridges and lookouts as it follows the river’s course.
|
Three suspension foot bridges cross the canyon, including one 60 m (197 ft) meters above the river. You can see it at the top of this picture |
|
187 stairs lead down to the lower suspension bridge. The hard part was the climb back up afterwards. |
|
Here is a group of kids, some as young as 5 maybe, crossing over the gorge on a cable..... I guess it's good to get 'em before they start developing fears?? |
