Arrived in Quebec City yesterday  and after spending 3 nights in an RV park while in Montreal, we decided on a Walmart for a couple of nights.  This Walmart on the south side of QC is a very popular one – I counted 14 RVs in the parking lot on the night that we arrived.

Quebec City can be divided into two major sections – Old and New Quebec. Old Town itself is divided into two areas:  Lower Town and Upper Town. The street system actually has no system. It is a haphazard  arrangement  of narrow streets. On Sunday morning we parked our car at the docks and walked onto a ferry to cross the St. Lawrence River into Old Town Quebec.  Here we spent the day exploring.  There is no shortage of shopping and dining spots as we meandered along the hilly, cobblestone streets.

Entertainers and markets add to the charm.

The most imposing building, Le Chateau Frontenac, built in 1893 can be seen from all directions in Old Town.  Originally designed with 170 rooms, the castle now boasts 613!  It is huge and regal, the kind of place “if you have to ask you can’t afford it”….

Dufferin Terrace, a wide boardwalk (promenade) built in the 1970’s was named for Lord Dufferin who commissioned its construction.

Cannons brought from England in the 19th century line the Terrace.
