We pulled into Sault Ste. Marie early in the day and found a
casino at the end of Bay Street, close to the locks. Perfect!! We can park and spend the
night. We would have liked to take the
Agawa Canyon Tour Train, but we were too early.. It doesn’t get going until
mid-June!
We walked the boardwalk along St. Marys River from one end
to the other ending at the locks which connect Lake Superior and St. Marys
River to Lake Heron.
You can see Michigan
Sault Ste. Marie across the river. There is a River Cruise you can take, but
unfortunately it is operated out of the US so we missed that too.
But all that is okay, we toured the locks. There is only one
lock, and it operates the same as the
ones in Panama and it is FREE to view!! And
we got a lot of information from the young people at the Tourist Information
Booth.
We played out our FREE Casino money ($5.00) then turned in
for the night. On the road again tomorrow morning.
