Fun was had by all at the first Pool Party of the season.

Michel sitting with Stu but not looking up for the camera!

My job was to collect money for the margaritas!!

Sherry and Suzanne
The official margarita makers!!

Jenga has become a very popular game here at the park.
Prizes were awarded to the winning team, after a round robin tournament.

We had beautiful sunshine to bask in while we played and sipped!

Michel has been enjoying his hikes on Mondays with a group from a neighbouring park. Every week they hike a different area.

Little did we know that the Palm Springs area is well known for hiking hills and trails, and people come from all over the world to trek through this desert area.

One more reason we love it here!

This week's hike was through Mecca Hills Wilderness -  "A geological wonder of folding and faulting"...

The Mecca Hills provide one of the best locations for viewing the complex geology along the San Andreas fault.

Mecca Hills Wilderness encompass over 26,000 acres of canyons and rugged range to explore.

It is located in the Sonoran Desert, and receives less than 1 inch of rain per year.

Left to Right clockwise:
Jerry, Michelle, myself, Ken (driving) and Bonnie

First road trip of the new year. We went to Algodonas with Bonnie & Ken and Jerry & Michelle. A day trip only, we left at 7 in the morning and travelled in Bonnie & Ken's motorhome.

Arriving around 10 am, our first stop was the Yuma market for a couple of hours.

Then it was off to Algodonas for lunch and an afternoon of shopping.

It was a cold, rainy day and it wasn't very busy in Algodonas, but needless to say even though the line up to leave wasn't long,  it still took over an hour to get back across the border.

We had a fun day, with great people. Lots of stories and laughs. It was Michelle & Jerry's first time to Yuma and to Algodonas and Michelle has decided that we should make it an annual event.

Cheers to that!!🍹🍹

Merry Christmas!

Mimosas to start our Christmas breakfast.

Michelle and Jerry entertained us and fed us a spectacular breakfast on Christmas morning.

I wondered where she would seat us all, but they had it all under control. Everyone had a seat at a table and there was so much food we were still not hungry by dinner time.
Clockwise left to right:
myself, Maureen, Tony, Marg, Jerry (standing) Ray and Michelle (standing)

on the menu:
Eggs benedict, hash browns, sausages

Christmas dinner was excellent too, but I didn't take pictures. We were full to capacity in the club house and there was more food than you can imagine.

Preparing the turkeys for Christmas dinner tomorrow.....

Michel helped out in the kitchen this year.

Ray did the cooking,  Michel did the peeling and buttering??

Marg (Ray's wife) 'supervised' and assisted in the clean up....

The last group lunch at the VFW before Christmas. December 19th.

Michel has been enjoying his hikes on Mondays.

On this hike they wandered up behind Palm Springs. Here they are looking upon Bob Hope's house.

Yesterday Jerry and Michelle joined him on yet another hike.  There are miles and miles of different trails to explore and he is certainly enjoying himself.....

A hike up to the flags!!

December 10, 2018

We've been at Desert Oasis here in Desert Hot Springs for over a month and I have to admit that posting to  my blog has not been at the top of my 'to do' list. We've been busy. We've met new people and re-acquainted ourselves with people we met last year. Michel and I started a walk-aerobics (Leslie Samsone) class that has been well received. There are 8-10 of us jumping around every morning. Then it's off to Water aerobics for me. Then that is enough exercise for me.... Michel has been playing water volleyball with the group. And that pretty much takes care of our mornings Monday to Friday.

Michel has been hiking with a group from another park every Monday, and he's enjoying the trails he's never been on and the views from the tops of the hills.

Monday night is Texas Hold'em and Michel has participated; Tuesday is Crib (we haven't participated yet) Wednesday I go to Bingo with a small group of ladies to another park (I have won over $200 so far) and Thursday night is Dominos which I enjoy. So... yes we have been busy.

We had a lovely Thanksgiving Dinner with friends in the park, and a fun sing along afterwards.

Our old friends Rich and Tina are in this area now, so we've had a few good visits with them.  And we see Steve and Doreen too from time to time. I do believe this winter will go by fast.
