Went south to Puertocitos, about 75 km from San Felipe, to sit in the natural not springs. We had a good day, packed a small lunch and a couple of cervezas. We got there with enough time to enjoy the hot springs before the tides began to come in. Once the tides come in they get too cold and you have to wait until the tides go back out in order to get back in.

In the 1st picture is the group we went down with: starting in back: Margie, Ellie, Bill, Dalton, Ruellie, Albert and Michel….

















The 2nd picture is taken from the opposite end of the pool. You can see the steam coming off the top pool. It was too hot to go in, and we had to wait until the tide came in to cool it off enough….

Today was Rich and Tina’s last day in San Felipe. So we went out for a ‘good bye’ dinner and a little partying….We were originally going to leave with them, but Michel wanted to stay another couple of weeks to enjoy the ocean and do a little more sailing. We’ll meet up with them in a few weeks.

Birthday party for Alfredo. He is the manager of the RV park we’ve been staying in here in San Felipe. Everyone from the park was there plus a few extra. There was all kinds of food, including pizza!, beer and wine. A good time was had by all…..

Today we went painting.

Mary Lou (painting teacher) took us out to a friends’ farm, where there were many choices of things to paint. She has lots of animals on her farm; cows, horses, donkeys, goats, geese, turkeys, chickens, peacocks, doves, and of course dogs…. The cows here are sure a lot skinnier than our cows.

They use pallets for fencing and for the animal pens.

Our hostess was Margarita and she was a wonderful hostess. She made us lunch; carne asada (bbq beef); tortillas, salsa, guacamole…. Very good!! (the beef here is very chewy, not like our good old Costco beef!!)

The season premier of Survivor was on this evening so we had a Survivor Party. We decided on a fish fry. We cooked the fish on the BBQ and we all brought a complimentary dish to along with it. We all had lots to eat (and drink) and had a good time…. In this picture we’re all stuffing our faces.

ROAD TRIP

Took a picture of the sunrise the morning of our road trip. We were on the trail by 7:00 - Rich and Tina, Wayne and Deb (from Utah) and ourselves. Our destination: San Luis Ganzaga about 65 miles south of San Felipe, give or take a few miles….











First stop along the way - Cowpatty’s, just north of Puertocitos. It would be a beer stop, but it wasn’t open so we just used the facilities and took advantage of the time to take pictures.

They are building a new highway to Ganzaga, and it’s a wonderful road; brand new hard top, nice three foot shoulders, pull-outs at view points…. but about 20 miles south of Puertocitos the road just ends. And when I say ends I’m not kidding. The writing on the ground is ‘finito’ and there is about a 10 foot drop…. We were traveling at about 80 kmh and literally had to slam on the breaks..

But we only just missed out turn, so we just had to backtrack a little and take the ‘old’ highway. This is the old highway - -

　

We ran into our painting teacher, Mary Lou about 5 miles down the old highway and followed her and her party to an old onyx mine. We spent the better part of an hour rummaging through the rocks and taking pictures before we said our good byes and carried on.

The trip to Ganzaga took us about 5 hours, including all our stops along the way. The reason it took so long to go such a short distance….. Check out these roads!!! We averaged 20 mph. But all in all we figure it was worth it.

The hotel wasn’t anything to write home about, but the bay was beautiful and the restaurant we had dinner at had very good food.

The next morning we had coffee on the patio and watched the sun come up. We had a good breakfast right there at the hotel and made it back to San Felipe in only 4 hours
