Teacapan, Mexico

We went to a fund raiser for the Kindergarten in Teacapan today. There were over 100 people in attendance - the majority being Canadian.

The people who own this house are Canadian from Kelowna and live in Teacapan for the winter.

There we had a great meal provided by the Japanese restaurant in town (excellent food). There was an open bar and many prizes divied up by playing games!!

Chicken Shit Bingo - have you heard of that?? They put a chicken in a pen with numbers all over the floor and guess what - whoever has the number the chicken shits on wins - - We never won, but many at our table did. Another game was Duckie Derby - A whole shit-load of numbered rubber ducks were dumped into the hot tub, then they drew out one at a time until all the prizes were gone - We never won there either. The prizes were really nice though, and the cause was a good one.

Happy New Year Everyone!!

On New Years Eve we left at 9:00 in the morning for a boat tour to Yalapa Bay. We spent about 2 hours on the boat getting there, stopping off to watch the whales. We took about a hundred pictures of the whales, but those darn things move too fast to get a good shot, so I'm not going to post any. When we arrived in the bay we had to be taxied to the shore, so that was an experience. Here is a shot of me when we got to shore.



But while on shore I had another experience - a first for me - para-sailing.

It was awesome - the ride - the view. It was all great. So here are two shots - the first one is my take-off.

After we returned from this full-day event we went down to the Melacon to share the New Years Eve festivities with thousands and thousands of tourists and Mexicans alike on what is classified as the biggest festival of the year in Puerto Vallarta. It was wonderful!! The fireworks display was nothing less than fantastic. We stood on the Melecon along with everyone else for hours before the fireworks display began but once they started - at midnight - we watched over 30 minutes of non-stop snap-crackle-popping. I think they must have their fireworks custom made, because they were unlike anything I've seen.... And we really outdid ourselves, we never got back to our room until 2:00 a.m. That's late for us - on a normal day we never see 11:00... Anyway, we said we weren't going to Puerto Vallarta to sleep - and we certainly didn't!!

Puerto Vallarta


We decided to go to Puerto Vallarta for New Years. We took the car and Rich and Tina came along. We got a hotel in the old town just 3 blocks from the Melacon (the boardwalk along the ocean), so we just parked the car and walked. Here is a picture of us on the balcony our hotel.

And here is a picture of us enjoying a mexican meal in a mexican way - we had to wait over an hour to get into this restaurant. It is very popular. Look at the size of that margarita in Michel's hand - the second one was free!!

Christmas Day

We had Christmas dinner with friends Rich and Tina in their motorhome. We bought a turkey in Esquinapa and Rich stuffed and cooked it. They have an oven - I only have a convection oven that I'm still not sure that I like. Here is a picture of Rich and Tina carving up the turkey. It was yummy!!! Rich, being a baker, also baked us an apple pie. We had a great day!!

We all enjoyed a pot luck happy hour in the park on Christmas Eve. It was well attended, and there was an unbelievable assortment of h'ordouvrs.

Merry Christmas everyone!!

We've been sitting here in Teacapan for 6 weeks now. We haven't been doing anything except relaxing. Our big decision for the day is what to prepare for dinner - oh, and what are we going to have for happy hour today?????

I did decorate my motorhome three or so weeks ago, so in the evening we have nice lights by which to read. I tried to upload some pictures for you to see, but internet here is quite sporatic to say the least. One day we have it the next few we don't. We've gone into Teacapan a few times now to use skype, but other than that the rest of the interneting has to wait.

Anyway - we sure hope you all have a very blessed Christmas and all the best in 2008.

Santa came early this year!

Rich and Tina went to Mazatlan for a couple of days last week and came back with boogie boards for Michel and Rich. Of course Sandy and Tina are enjoying them as much as they guys. The surf is awesome especially in the morning, when the waves are bigger.














Here is a shot of Michel riding the wave. I don't think this one gave him a ride all the way in to shore, but there were many that did.
