Yesterday we went a little south of the border to Colville, WA with Steve and Doreen. It was a lovely drive and we had a great day. We did a little shopping had a great lunch then headed back in the early afternoon. The weather in Colville was balmy. Sunny and humid!

Who knew we were in for this kind of storm when we got back home....

The hail came down so fast and furious we didn't even have time to think! So we watched from our window as stones the size of marbles pelted my gardens and flowers.

You've all heard of the movie "A River Runs Through It" (or something like that - lol) Well.... here you have it. A little river running right through my yard and my gazebo,wreaking havoc in my flower beds.

I don't have to tell you that today most of my flowers and bushes look like they have a hang-over that they may not recover from. Thank goodness for evergreens - I still have a few plants that look good!

The greenhouses in the area will be busy (again) ... most of us thought we'd already bought all our plants for the season -

First bonfire of the season.

We met up with Steve and Doreen and Solange and Leo at the meat draw at the Legion this afternoon. We won a frozen lasagna, so our dinner was planned.

We came back to our house afterwards and we all enjoyed the fruits of our big win - lol!

We had a few glasses of wine (beer) and enjoyed a few songs, lots of laughs, and of course some good conversation into the evening.

Spring is such an exciting time of year. The gardens begin blooming and there is color everywhere!

Sadly this year we lost a few plants over the winter. Winter kill I guess, not sure what else it could be.

But it's fun shopping for new plants to replace them.

We spent the night in Banff, our last night in Alberta....

there we helped Michel's youngest sister Lise celebrate her 54th birthday.

Suzanne and her husband Harry drove from Calgary for the occasion. We ate at a Mexican restaurant called Magpie and Stump. The food was good, but the company was better. Michel so enjoyed this reunion with his sisters. It was determined that it was 15 years since the three of them had last been together... Everyone had a great time visiting and reminiscing.

Rob, Tammy, Tristan

We spent 3 nights at my son's then left on Sunday morning for Morningside, AB (south of Ponoka) where we got to visit with my daughter Tammy and her family. We relaxed at her place for a few nights as well, just catching up on what's been happening in their lives. Tristan turned 18 this year. I don't know where the time has gone.

A trip to Alberta is never complete without a visit to see my cousin Norman and his wife of 45 years, Alice!! Such wonderful people. Good to see they are both doing well. Hoping that one day they will make their way west to see us. Love you both!

And another couple we love to see is my BFF Deb and her husband Len. We always enjoy their hospitality. It was fun again to catch up on their life's events. They both turn 60 this year, and have bought an RV to celebrate. I know they will have such fun 'camping' until they retire and can do some real travelling - lol. Always great to see you two!!

Our time in Alberta has come to and end and tomorrow we will have to get going, and make our way home. Work will start for Michel again soon, and he's excited about that. I am anxious to get into the garden. Will have to buy my annuals for my baskets soon!

On Thursday, April 23rd we left on our annual trek to northern Alberta to visit my family. We had originally thought we'd split the drive into two days, but once we got going in the early hours of the morning we drove all the way. It was a long day, 14 hours, and 1250 km and Michel drove all the way, - no help from me at all!

We arrived at my sons' place at dinner time a day early.

We visited and enjoyed our time there.
