This weekend we had a wonderful visit with Michel's daughter Alisha, her husband Rob, and their two little girls Emily and Kaitlyn. It was sad to see them leave today.

We haven't seen them since May, so it was surprising to see how much Kaitlyn has grown in 3 1/2 months. She's almost 7 months old.

Emily was more active this time - we forget how busy little people are. Always on the go. Mom and Dad were busy keeping up.
Emily and Grandpa.....
Another good picture of Emily and Grandpa - she sure did enjoy swinging!

August 1, 2012

The "dog days" of August are upon us with temperatures in the mid to high 30's (that's pretty close to 100 degrees F - for our American friends).

Michel loves the water and it doesn't take very much to convince him to swim in the creek in these heats. The creek is much to cold for me; I'm a pansy when it comes to water.
He's been trying to re-direct the flow of the water. It's washing away our property; making tunnels underground. He's managed to clear away some debris and and old tree trunk, and the water doesn't swirl so much in front of our place now. That, and he's been throwing large rocks from the creek onto the creek bed as a barrier.
He does manage to keep busy - As we're still taking care of Jewel and Boundary Provincial Parks, he's responsible for chopping, splitting and selling firewood to the campers. Although it seems that the parks are slower than last year, he still keeps up his wood pile!

While browsing through my pictures, I came across this photo of our back yard, as it was last spring - BEFORE .......
Then the work began and after replacing all of last years paving stones with new ones - we're what we call 'finished'.  Sure looks different! The AFTER photo.....
As you can see, we had enough bricks to complete the entire back yard.
This is the view from the deck.

BUT - where once grew weeds, we now have beautiful flowers!! Right now the flower gardens look a little sparse, but in time we'll have that all filled in and looking good.

It is however, a work in progress, as we're nowhere finished planting. But thanks to a few friends, who have given me plants and cuttings, the job is not as big as it could have been....
